For Visually and Physically Disabled

Lewis County Public Library and Archives is committed to making its facility, programs, and services accessible to all people, including those with disabilities.

Accessible Parking

Accessible parking is located near the library entrance.

Materials

Our collection includes large-print books and audio books for patrons with visual issues.

Magnifier

A handheld magnification device is available at the circulation desk for patrons needing to enlarge print materials.

Accessible Computer Workstation

The library and archives provides an adjustable computer table for patrons with mobility impairments.  Computer access is made easier with an electric push-button table that is adjustable to any wheelchair height.

Workstation includes a choice of a large print (white text on black keys) or low vision keyboard (black text on yellow keys) for people who have a difficult time seeing or using traditional-sized keyboards. An optical trackball mouse which requires less fine motor control to operate than a standard mouse is also available.

Tennessee Library for Accessible Books and Media

The library and archives is a referral site for those wishing to receive service from The Tennessee Library for Accessible Books and Media (LABM) which offers 150,000 recorded, large print, and braille materials available to residents of Tennessee who are not able to use standard print materials due to a visual or physical disability.  For more information about LABM, please visit Tennessee State Library and Archives’ website at https://sos.tn.gov/tsla/labm.
